My Favorite Beach on Phuket:
Bang Tao Beach and more

Phuket offers such a wide variety of beaches - that this gets to be a highly subjective review of favorite places for a walk, a jog, or even a sunrise stroll.  Bang Tao Beach on Phuket is a real favorite.  If you get up a little before sunrise - you'll find the beach is yours alone!  Sometimes you'll have a little company - a Thai fisherman or two - maybe a jogger from the resorts here and there up and down the bay - but if you want early in the morning peace and quiet - check it out. 

Of special interest along Bang Tao Beach is that, at times - during sunrise or sunset, you scan hear a Scopes Collared Owl hooting in the woods near Amora Resort.  It will sound almost like the singular bark of a dog - spaced every twenty seconds or so - and sometimes a mate will respond within a few seconds.  Similar owls have been heard around Kamala.

Check also for the pair of Brahminy Kites that soar up and down the coastline here.  You can see them most anytime of day - but your are most likely to see them around sunrise and sunset.  If you like these kinds of sights - check out the bird watching page on this site.
